Hola.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my running blog. Have a great day!

GNC, scientifically proven to piss me off!

GNC, scientifically proven to piss me off!

I avoid going to GNC for my supplement needs. In my experience they are more expensive than other establishments, both online and brick and mortar (I prefer Bodybuilding.com, AllStarHealth, or good old Amazon). Also, The staff isn't very helpful; today, I discovered that this hasn't changed much since my last visit.

As some of you know, currently I'm following Kris Gethin's Daily Muscle Trainer. I really like his daily videos because besides showing you the daily workout, he discusses various topics such as nutrition, grocery shopping, rest days, etc.

During a couple of his videos, he showed viewers some snacks he may have during the day; one of these snacks is Novo Protein Bites made with soy. I did some quick googling and found out that GNC carries them here in the US. I decided to check out my local GNC store in order to buy some of the individual bags before committing to a specific flavor.

So I walk into the store, and immediately I was greeted with attitude. I found out two things. One, the store doesn't carry them. Apparently, they don't carry everything that is on their site in the actual store. Ok, that's fair, some stores only carry certain things online. The second thing I "learned" both amused and surprised me. The clerk wanted to know why I was going with a soy product? He then proceeded to tell me that it has been "scientifically proven" to increase the hormones having to do with estrogen levels and this in turn would lead me to be stressed out more; have I been stressed out more?

WTF?! Haha. I laughed inside and thought to myself, if Kris Gethin were here he would get a crack out of this. I think Gethin said it best in one of his daily videos, "Unless you are gonna have kilos of this stuff, it's not going to affect your estrogen levels." A bag of bites is nowhere near a dangerous amount of soy. I just chuckled. I didn't really feel like arguing with the guy or explaining why I was looking for said product. Don't try to sell me on your incorrect facts! Needless to say, I was reminded why I avoid going to GNC and my pursuit to find these soy protein bites continues. Now I really must try some. If anyone knows where I can find them that does not involve GNC, that would be great.
