I had been overweight most of my life and eating to my hearts content was my "happiness." The truth of the matter is that I was unhappy with who I was at that point in my life until running changed everything for the better. I began running in 2007 after seeing an ad for this new gadget (the Nike+ sport sensor) that you could connect to your iPod Nano and record your running stats. Having never really run before, I started off at about a 13-minute pace when I first ran and it quickly became like a game to me; I wanted to see if I could run faster and farther. It wasn't until almost a year later when I did a relay race at work that I discovered my love for running. From that moment, it's been a long journey to get to where I currently am today. My current pace is almost half of what it was when I first started and that amazes me to this day because I never imagined I could run that fast when I was overweight.
